El molino estaba ubicado en un lugar expedito, es decir, un terreno provisto de un río y de los accidentes topográficos necesarios para el normal funcionamiento del sistema.

Otros elementos del molino lo constituían la compuerta (puerta del tranque), el desague (asequia ubicada en uno de los extremos del tranque por donde circulaba el agua una vez que este se llenaba), las cuñas (ubicadas dentro de la casa del molino y servían para levantar las piedras), etc.
En la época de verano, sobre todo el molino debía solicitarse con anticipación porque la cantidad de personas que utilizaban sus servicios aumentaba y el caudal de los ríos disminuía.
